The only useful Frontier Nav information there is is the field level ...

This is going to be an ongoing review but the lack of clear precise directions to Frontier Nav locations is making me ask myself why I bought this in the first place. The only useful Frontier Nav information there is is the field level requirement to activate one. The rest of the information pertaining to Frontier Navs is copied from ingame. They don't even mention where the sightseeing spots are. Most of the guidebook seems like it copy pasted game text with very little advice on how to go about objectives and when it does the advice is so vague that I find myself googling keywords and ending up on the Xenoblade Wiki.

This is just a bad guide. It is missing so much information and the information that is included is presented in what has to be the worst possible way imaginable.
For instance, there are a ton of missions in this game across many different mission types. Some of the most important missions are the affinity missions. You need to complete many of these to progress in the story. This guide lists these missions in a way that defies logic and makes it useless. Not in alphabetical order. Not in order of level. Not even in order of geography....and that is what is needed. These missions are spread out all over NLA and the location of where to start them obviously should have been included. It was stupid not to. And there is an index of all these missions, but it is not listed in any particular order either. Garbage. A useless guide.
The bonus soft cloth is cool and all...but whatever. It is crap compared to the bonuses that came with the Fallout 4 guide (also kind of a crappy guide) and the MGSV guides (best guide ever).
I will say that the cover of this guide is absolutely beautiful. But that just makes me wonder why all the pictures in the book look so soft around the edges.
I feel bad hating on this guide. It looks like one person wrote the whole thing and that in itself was a Hurculean effort for such a massive game. But it is what it is...and it is a useless a guide that doesn't even scratch that collector's itch.

Does not help with the game at all, been using xenoblade wiki for a lot of my side quests.

I got this mainly for the side missions since I remember how much of a task side missions were in the first game. This guide only really somewhat helps with the main story and the affinity quests.
When I say somewhat I mean hardly at all. The main quest is pretty much straight forward for this game (so far) and all this guide does is just give you what the objective of the mission is with a few tidbits here and there. No real information on the battles or the best way to take them down. It is possible to find more info on the stats of the enemies if you go all the way to the back of the book. Who wants to do that when they are in a middle of a battle? I know I don't since I would probably miss out on a combo while trying to find the right page.
Now we got the affinity quests. It gives them in order of lowest to highest needs which is nice, but it does not tell you where they are or if there is a mission required beforehand how to get the mission. Otherwise once you start them it is the same as the story missions, no detail.
Now the main reason why I got this book. The side missions, the ones that are received from the board or other random individuals. This guide does nothing with those except just list the objectives and that is it. Need to know where a specific enemy is so you can try to get an item off of them, good luck since the enemies in the data only says the region they are in. If you need to find a collectible it is a little bit better since there are a couple of pages that show what could be found in specific areas of each region.
The book design and all the extra stuff is awesome, but the guide itself is horrible. If it wasn't for the awesomeness of the book it would have been easily a one star review.
