PACKT does a really poor just with review and errata

PACKT does a really poor just with review and errata. I have also found issues that were also wrong in the code from their website. I was able to figure out the solution, but I'm severely disappointed in how much time it takes to clear obstacles due to poor technical editing. Otherwise the content seems very useful.

Still a decent reference in 2016 if you're not learning socket.io fresh and can deal with some typos.

Code is full of mistakes. Almost no explanation of the code.

The code is completely littered with mistakes and typos, and it's up to you to try to find the mistakes and fix them. For each recipe, he gives several lines of code, but he doesn't explain what exactly each line of code does. His approach is this: Just enter the code I give you into a file, run it with node.js, and trust me. Then, at the end of each recipe, he gives a brief description of what the recipe does. In the Kindle version, the code is so badly formatted that it's like doing a jigsaw puzzle, trying to make sense of the code. He does almost nothing to show how to write the code for a production environment, for example where the client must be served by an Apache server. So 99% of the code is for his test setup on http://localhost:5000, where the socket.io server and client, both, are served by the same node process, which he starts manually with the shell command: "node server.js". Also, he inserts acronyms and concepts he hasn't explained, and assumes that you know what he's talking about.
